Assistant Landscape Architect/Designer

Melissa Morton Garden Design is a creative garden and landscape design studio specialising in projects from new builds to country homes. We enhance clients' connections with their outdoor spaces, focusing on unique, elegant designs and sustainable planting, positively contributing to biodiversity. Located in the Wharfe Valley and surrounded by Ilkley moor, we offer complete landscape design and construction services.

We are seeking an Assistant Landscape Architect/Designer to join our expanding team. This role is integral to advancing the studio’s development and involves collaborating with our design team. The successful candidate will support on a variety of residential and commercial projects, assisting in both design and administrative tasks.
The post will be part-time initially, with a view to be a full-time position within 12 months.

The role
• Supporting the design team in all aspects of project delivery, from design brief to construction details.
• Assisting in producing design solutions, preparing graphics, and conducting site surveys.
• Liaising with suppliers and contractors, assist in plant sourcing, and ensure CDM compliance.
• Preparing quotations, manage project records, and contribute to marketing efforts.

Skills & Qualifications
Essential
• Degree in Landscape/Garden Design or equivalent qualification.
• Proficiency in 2D Vectorworks (or similar CAD software), Microsoft Office, and good knowledge of UK plants.
• Experience in sustainable landscape design as well as hard and soft landscaping materials.
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and organisational abilities.

Desirable
Experience with 3D Vectorworks, Adobe (Photoshop, InDesign), iPad Procreate and/ or Twinmotion.
The ideal candidate is dynamic, passionate about gardens, willing to travel as needed, and eager to contribute
to our team’s success.
