In this course, we will look at 4 different planting styles: cottage, tropical, contemporary and Mediterranean. These terms are often used loosely when discussing planting with clients, but in practical terms, what do they mean and how do we achieve the look they promise in our planting schemes?
For each style of garden, we will look at a range of suitable plants including bulbs, perennials and shrubs. There will be a discussion of suitable conditions, soil and practical considerations. And there will be time for questions. The course aims at giving participants the practical tools to start a planting plan for each style of garden and to inspire them to try out some new plants.
Anna Ribo is a planting designer, garden consultant and planting and sketching teacher. She does planting design for her own and other professionals' projects and teaches sketching for garden design 1-1 and in groups. Her work is unashamedly plant based.
