After an inspiring virtual appearance at the recent SGD Autumn conference, we are thrilled to announce that award-winning New York-based designer Wambui Ippolito will be joining us in-person to chair the SGD Spring Conference at the Royal Geographical Society in London on 27 April 2024.

Titled 'Between a Rock and a Soft Place', the conference will explore the sensitive interface between animal, vegetal and mineral, emphasising how sustainable practice must embrace a holistic approach to hard and soft landscaping, and examining how different concepts can be applied to everyday garden projects to minimise both the carbon footprint and any disruption to the natural ecology of a site.

In chairing the conference, Wambui, who is one of today's most sought-after garden designers and horticulturists, will share her passion for plants and sustainable garden design in the context of her ongoing project to restore her family garden set within the Kenyan rainforest.
